Due to the need for written discovery to ascertain the nature of the contest, busy court dockets, and time required for negotiation, mediation, and filing of appropriate motions, very few contested divorces can be finalized within 60, 90 or even 120 days. In fact, most contested divorces in the Houston area take much longer - up to 18 months or more if a final trial is necessary to decide the issues in dispute.
